Our camp parents open the gate to the Bikes and the flying fox I went on the balance bikes first then I went on the BMX after that I  went to the terrifying flying fox where I hit my head on the car tyres. After that I went back for a couple more goes on the balance bikes. Lucy, Lexie, Gabe and I had a big race I think Lucy or Lexie won then we herd a loud TWEET!!!! A Moment at Camp
By Georgia

“It is so hard to get to sleep”, I quietly whispered to Amelia because I am not used to sleeping in another bed. I quietly whispered to myself “now that was a hard day”.
In the night the wind was so heavy and loud it went side to side. Amelia was the first to wake up and I was the second to wake up , poppy was third. In the morning one of the mum’s that were in the bunk room said Amelia and I were the first to sleep  and the quietest. I thought I slept like a extremely quiet baby lion. I said Amelia was snoring like an elephant.
I think I achieved my goal by putting out my sleeping bag and putting all my clothes neatly in my suitcase.

I really liked going to camp.

Next it was my turn, as soon as I sat on the seat of the bike I knew I was in for a ruff ride. Crash, bang wholip,” what did I say, I’m not so flash at these
things am”. One fail later .
Brrrr, brrrr,brrr, errr, ber.
“Lucy coming through,”.
“Whoo, she’s so fast,” I heard people whispering as I whizzed past at the speed of lightning.
“Wooo, Hoo!.
“Next!”
“What?”
Crash, bang, Err!!
“Ops, oh well at least I gave it a go.”

“Are we were sleeping in this bunk room?” I ask Avi .
“Yes,” Avi replied.  So we got our bags and we put our bags in the bunk rooms. Mark told us where we were sleeping. I was sleeping in a double bed.
Dinner went past.
I was having a shower till the water was cold so I hopped out as quickly as I could to avoid the cold water.
Finally I got dried and into my Pj’s and was in bed before James. Five minutes later we were all asleep until some laughing started to happen. It was from Riley in the top bunk.  Riley got shifted, I was still awake. Mr Y came in to our bunkroom so I got shifted as well. I was in the same bunk room as Riley again.

Camp was great.

Why is the kakapo Nocturnal?

By Nethasa D
One day there lived a kakapo, he loved to play at night but he slept in the day, that is called nocturnal.
Anyway back to the story, he didn’t want to sleep any more in the day so his mother got confused. “Why are you not sleeping,” she yelled.
“Because I don’t want to be nocturnal.
 “Don’t argue with me.”
‘‘Sorry mum, but everyone is bullying me because I am nocturnal.”
“Well the kiwi is nocturnal.”
“Well, still I wish I was wasn’t nocturnal!” he yelled.  “Everyone is different.
“Mum sang, “Everyone is different, now do you want to be yourself, the kakapo says, Yes, Yes.”

That is how the kakapo became nocturnal.

How the Kakapo is Flightless.
By Georgia

Once a long time ago there was a kakapo. She lived in the forest. Once she tried to fly but it did not work. Then came along an eagle. The eagle said, “ try harder.”
But it still did not work.
She tried again. It still did not work.
She started to cry.
A butterfly came along and said “cheer up.”
“Do not cry you will find a way to do it.”
“No, I wont,” the kakapo chirped.
“But you could fly me up to get some rimu berries.”
From that day on she asked for help.
